Touching Bonfires will light them, changing your spawn point and resetting the timer. Upgrades (like double jumping) persist between deaths.
You are Count Fredrick Jerskin, a vampire hunter who has been poisoned and will die a painful death in exactly 22 seconds. However, you are lucky and have been blessed by the Goddess of Time. Each time you die you will travel back in time 22 seconds. Now, reclaim your supernatural powers and drink the red vial which carries your salvation!
This game was made as part of the 2024 b3agz game jam. I interpreted the theme “everything hurts” as dying constantly and tried to take inspiration from my favorite games which really hurt me; that being Dark Souls and Super Metroid. I also tried to take this theme into account with the timer mechanic which adds constant stress to the gameplay.
